   I thought the story of the martyred St. Valintine was particularly interesting in and of itself. It explains the arrow through the heart anyway. ;D

   This idea of the Lupercalia Festival’s lottery for sex partners is questionable at best. Historians agree that the festival was ended around the 5th century CE but no reliable sources are talking about this lottery. The only sites I could find that even mention it are sites that take witch craft and new age occultism seriously.
