Found Out

Today I Found Out is a site bringing you new interesting “brain food” articles every day.  It was originally inspired by the wonderful sub-reddit “Today I Learned” which is one of my favorite subscriptions on reddit.  Feel free to check me out on reddit and be my reddit friend.

Having an incredible range of things I’m interested in and generally spending a lot of time every day learning new things procrastinating from my “real” work, I decided to start this site in order to make my procrastination a little more constructive.   If nothing else, hopefully this site will give you interesting tidbits to talk about at cocktail parties or around the water cooler at work.

About Me

So the above is about my site and my company, what about me you ask? Well, I am a 28 year old guy living in the United States, specifically in Washington State. I have a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science, both focusing on Computer Science. I also managed to spend an additional three years in college over the normal amount, taking classes outside of my required classes; these extra classes were in Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics, Latin, Astronomy, History, Literature, and Music; literally going from major to major until the University finally forced me to pick one and stick with it, as I was hitting the end of the “You have to graduate with something after X number of years” limit in their rule book.  During my Masters program, I specialized in distributed computing, robotics, and machine learning.  My research project and subsequent paper was on developing and implementing a robust flight control system for an Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that could be used with very little modification on a variety of remote control flight platforms.

Since school, my primary hobbies outside of web work have been studying electrical engineering and reading a variety of business related books.   So basically, as I said above, I’m interested in a lot of things; so this site gives me an outlet to share what I’ve learned and continue getting to learn new things daily.
