And YES, you will have to take the mattress with you in the ambulance so that it can be surgically removed from the body should they not want to die of an infection.

-pro tip- Should you ever have to transport a human attached to a mattress, cut the mattress from around the person BEFORE they are in the vehicle. You will never get all of the stuffing out of your car! One year later, you will still be finding remnants!

#5- Dr.’s routinely, (and by routinely I mean probably about 2-3% of the time, which by number of patients standards, is usually once or twice a week) will purposefully make a patient snort liquid cocaine to stop a nose bleed.

Public service announcement- one of the quickest ways to get chronic nose bleeds…… snort cocaine.

If you liked this article, you might also enjoy our new popular podcast, The BrainFood Show (iTunes, Spotify, Google Play Music, Feed), as well as:

Top 5 First Aid Tricks Everyone Should Know

CPR Does Not Require Mouth to Mouth

Honey Can be Used for a Variety of Medicinal Purposes

What the Numbers in a Blood Pressure Test Mean and What it Tells the Medics

Source:

Scott, who is a fire fighter and a long time paramedic.

Today I found out five interesting things you learn from being a paramedic. This article is a little change of pace from my normal articles, but I couldn’t resist posting it, as it is very interesting and entertaining. Here are five interesting things I learned from a paramedic working at a fire station. Below is written by said paramedic, namely […]

[3,10
84,85,77,83
post-295","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-today-i-found-out","category-science","tag-doctor","tag-emergency-care","tag-health","tag-paramedic
["GET
